Brush Strokes of Unity: Color Your Community into the New Goodwill at the Trail Mural

April 15, 2026

The Swamp Rabbit Trail is about to get a massive splash of color, and Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina (GIUMSC) wants your hands to help paint it. On Saturday, April 25, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, community members of all ages are invited to pick up a brush and join the Community Paint Day at the new Goodwill at the Trail, 115 Haywood Road in Greenville.

This isn’t just a viewing; it’s a celebration of community spirit. Partnering with Blank Canvas Mural Company (BCMC), whose vibrant work already defines much of the Upstate’s visual landscape, Goodwill is installing a 1,440-square-foot masterpiece on the side of the building facing the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Led by Adam Schrimmer, owner and lead artist of BCMC, community members will take part in a guided, paint-by-number-style experience, working with the team to bring the mural to life.

The mural tells a powerful story: a young girl’s dream of a thriving community where differences are valued and neighbors work side-by-side to spread goodwill to all. It will serve as a visual anthem for the spirit of determination, depicting the journey toward independent, fruitful lives that define the Greenville community.

“This mural is more than just paint on a wall; it is a living reflection of the people we serve and the neighbors who support us,” said Chunsta Miller, Goodwill Vice President of Communication and Public Engagement. “We wanted to create a true community asset that highlights the beauty of working together. By inviting the public to help us paint this vision on April 25, we are ensuring that this artwork truly belongs to the citizens of the Upstate.”

The event promises a festival atmosphere with food trucks, music, and fun for the whole family. The mural itself will overlook Goodwill’s brand-new community space – a vibrant oasis designed for trail-goers to rest and recharge. Whether you are walking, biking, or skating along the trail between downtown and Goodwill at the Trail, this new area offers a grass pad, picnic tables, and opportunities for neighbors to relax along the trail.

While on-site for the Paint Day, neighbors can explore all that Goodwill at the Trail has to offer. The campus is home to Auten’s Loft Boutique, featuring curated fashion; Second Story Bookstore, a haven for book lovers; and a completely upgraded retail store.

Come dressed to paint, stay for the fun, and help create a landmark that will inspire the Upstate for years to come.
