Hispanic Heritage Month Spotlight: Meet Elizabeth
September 28, 2026
This Hispanic Heritage Month, Goodwill of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina is excited to spotlight a Goodwill employee who built a life of purpose through the dignity of work.
Meet Elizabeth, a mother from Mexico, who came to Goodwill to create a stable future for herself and her family.
When Elizabeth first reached out, she had been out of the job market for over 10 years, spoke little English, and had limited computer skills. Despite these challenges, she embraced her growth journey, seeking guidance from bilingual Career Navigators at the Goodwill Career and Training Center in Greer. Over several weeks, she completed the Spanish Digital Skills program, built a resume, filled out job applications, and participated in mock interviews, gaining the confidence to attend a Goodwill Store Hiring Event.
Today, Elizabeth has earned her Spanish Certification and secured her first stable job at the Sulphur Springs Clearance Center. She continues to demonstrate ambition, setting new goals such as taking the WIN Learning Career Readiness Assessments with support from Goodwill’s career and training services.
One of the most exciting parts of our work at Goodwill is supporting and celebrating individuals like Elizabeth as they turn their dreams into reality. We can’t wait to see what she accomplishes next!
