Soldier to Mentor: Army Veteran Takes on New Mission at Goodwill
November 18, 2025
Meet Carey Bryson, a shining example of leadership, dedication, and inspiration. After serving his country, Carey found a new mission through Goodwill’s South Carolina Vocations and Individual Advancement (SCVIA) program – building a career that allows him to live independently and sustainably.
Today, Carey works at the Greenville Army Reserve Center, where his military discipline and work ethic continue to shine. Though there’s no designated team lead at his site, Carey naturally stepped up – taking initiative, mentoring others, and ensuring operations run smoothly.
His eagerness to learn, share innovative ideas, and commitment to excellence have made him an invaluable part of the team. From improving custodial services to completing CleanCheck training and cross-training at multiple sites, Carey embodies what it means to serve with purpose – both in and out of uniform.
Join us in celebrating Carey’s journey and the impact of Goodwill’s SCVIA program in helping veterans achieve meaningful, independent lives.
