Goodwill Day at the Dome: Making Our Voices Heard

March 29, 2026

On February 11, 2026, “Goodwill Day at the Dome" spotlighted the mission and economic impact of twin-engine, Palmetto Goodwill and Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina (GIUMSC), through candid conversations with state lawmakers and staff.

So, what is the ultimate goal of Goodwill’s advocacy day?

Education and legislative investment in the future of an ever-growing Palmetto State. Since 1973, GIUMSC has been a social enterprise dedicated to sustainability in all its intricate shapes and sizes. While our sustainability efforts begin with collecting and reselling gently used items that keep over 45 million pounds of goods out of local landfills, the environmental impact sets social and economic sustainability cycles in motion.

Goodwill’s impact touches more than planet Earth.

In 2024 alone, Palmetto Goodwill and Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina:

  • Supported 15,000 jobs that would not otherwise exist in the Palmetto State.
  • Delivered career and training services to 23,000 South Carolinians.
  • Placed 10,000 South Carolinians into meaningful employment.
  • Contributed $638 million to the state’s economy

“We are incredibly grateful for our donors and shoppers who spend their dollars with Goodwill,” says Monique McDaniels, Community and Workforce Development Vice President, “90 cents of every dollar goes toward ensuring our neighbors get life-changing training and career services at no cost.”

It is no secret that – much like legislators – our community members play a key role in our collective security and economic mobility.

Goodwill is committed to strengthening communities and creating lasting changes across the state. We will continue to advocate for the valuable voices and services that make our impact possible.
