Laquiatta Tolbert

Laquiatta Tolbert’s journey is a powerful example of the life-changing support from Goodwill and overcoming challenges. Starting from a manufacturing job, Laquiatta was ready to pivot her career toward something more stable and rewarding: HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning).

In June 2025, Laquiatta enrolled in the Goodwill Opportunity Accelerator Program. Despite facing the significant challenge of losing her transportation due to an accident, which temporarily stalled her progress, Laquiatta was not deterred. She discovered the crucial skill of persistence – a driving force that propelled her to enroll in Goodwill’s brand-new Clean Tech Accelerator Program, fully committing to the path forward toward her passion and career possibilities.

Her hard work paid off! By August, she successfully earned her HVAC certification from the Clean Tech program. This opened doors, leading to multiple job offers. She ultimately accepted a position as an HVAC/Maintenance Technician with South Carolina Resorts and Maintenance, starting at $22 per hour.

Laquiatta’s story proves that with dedication, courage, and the right opportunity, anyone can overcome obstacles and build a better future through the power of work!
