GOODWILL® ANNOUNCES FLUOR’S GOLF FOR GREENVILLE YOUTH & FAMILY SERVICES CENTER

Grand Reopening and Ribbon-Cutting Scheduled for Wednesday, June 12th

On Wednesday, June 12th, Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina (GIUMSC) will celebrate the Grand Reopening of the Fluor’s Golf for Greenville Youth & Family Services Center.

Located at 45 E. Main Street in Greenville, the facility previously housed Goodwill’s YouthBuild Greenville program.  Through a grant from Fluor’s Golf for Greenville, the facility has been updated and remodeled to serve all of Goodwill’s Greenville-area youth programs. The programs at this location will include the GoodGuides® youth mentoring program for young people ages 12-17 and the WIOA youth program offering training and education programs for young people ages 18-24.

Goodwill, along with representatives from Fluor, will host a Grand Reopening of the facility at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, June 12th.  A ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 12:20 pm. Attendees are welcome to tour the building and learn more about the programs that are available for youth and families.

Fluor’s Golf for Greenville was developed and founded by Fluor employee volunteers in 1989. Since its inception, this employee-led initiative has had a strong impact on the Greenville community, raising more than $5.7 million to assist community organizations.  In 2018, the event raised a record $670,000 for Goodwill Industries, The Greenville Free Medical Clinic, and Make-a-Wish South Carolina. This accomplishment was achieved with the help of 125+ sponsors, 450 golfers who participated at four courses, and more than 100 Fluor employee volunteers.

Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina helps people become independent through education and training leading to employment.  Goodwill provides career training programs in Healthcare, Retail, Food Service, Commercial Driving, and Forklift, in addition to job placement assistance through Goodwill Job Connections.  Last year, Goodwill placed 12,152 people into employment through its job training programs and Goodwill Job Connection services.
