Certified Production Technician Training Program - Greenwood/Laurens Counties

Certified Production Technician curriculum includes 200 hours of instruction in four key areas: safety, quality practices and measurements, manufacturing processes and production, and maintenance awareness.  In addition to the Certified Production Technician curriculum, participants may also earn certification in Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt and OSHA General Industry Safety.  Participants will also complete 40 hours of Hands On Lab Training.  Work readiness curriculum includes résumé development, workplace professionalism, mock interviews, work ethics, basic computer skills, communications and financial management. 

Goodwill provides assistance in job searching – including access to Job Connection resources and personalized guidance from a case manager – but employment is not guaranteed.

Program Details

Day Program
Job Readiness Workshop: 3 Weeks (Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm)
Certificate Program in Manufacturing: 8 weeks (Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 12:30pm)
Training takes place at Piedmont Technical College

Students are eligible for a $1,500 award towards an associate's degree in Machine Tool Technology or Mechatronics Technology after successfully completing the Training Program.

Classes average 12 students and participants must meet these requirements:

  • Criminal Background Check
  • At Least 18 Years of Age
  • Lift Up to 70 Pounds
  • Stand for Long Durations
  • Minimal Visual and Hearing Limitations
  • Negative Drug Screen
  • WorkKeys (Silver Required)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Submission of Letter of Interest

If accepted, participants must attend orientation and successfully complete work readiness curriculum before beginning skills training.
