PASS IT ON AWARD
BROADUS HIPPS

For Broadus Hipps, his job is much more than just a position supervising Goodwill clients working on-site at Caterpillar in Fountain Inn.  It is a chance for him to guide, motivate, and maybe even inspire people who are in a position Broadus knows well – making the most of an opportunity and working toward a brighter future.

Broadus, a Goodwill Graduate himself, came to Goodwill in 2006.  Though he began his training in Goodwill’s Food Service program, Broadus soon proved that he was willing and able to take on any task.  He was eventually offered the chance to supervise a new contract through Business Support Services, working on-site at Caterpillar.  Broadus was a natural fit for the job, and was hired as a Goodwill employee three months later.

During his time with Goodwill, Broadus has had the opportunity to work with a number of people and give them the support and the training they needed to attain their own goals.  For Broadus, being able to give others the same opportunities he was given is just a perk of the job.  Hearing that a client he has mentored is doing well and is being successful on the job means, to Broadus, that Goodwill has done its job.

“Goodwill got me in the position I’m in now.  And, you know, I like to see people succeed.  I learned by going through this and I’m just trying to pass on what I learned and it’s working.”
