Goodwill Store and Job Connection Opens on Blackstock Road in Spartanburg
When the new Goodwill store on Blackstock Road opens on Thursday, December 20th, many people will be searching for Goodwill’s signature deals on everything from clothing to furniture. Others, however, will be looking for something a little different, something that many people don’t necessarily realize can be found at Goodwill: a job.
The new Goodwill location at 219 E. Blackstock Road in Spartnaburg will feature a retail store, a drive-through donation center, and access to Goodwill’s job training and placement services through the Goodwill Job Connection.
Supported by funds generated through the sale of donated merchandise, Goodwill Job Connections provide free assistance to help job seekers connect with potential employers and find permanent employment. Services include access to resources like computers and the internet, fax machines, telephones, and job leads and referrals. A trained employment specialist is on site to assist individuals with their job search. Additional services available through Goodwill Job Connections include resume development, interviewing skills, and classes such as Basic Computer Literacy.
Goodwill Job Connections can also serve as a resource for employers. Job Connections can connect employers with pre-screened applicants, provide space for on-site interviewing, or organize and conduct Job Fairs to help fill open positions.
Job seekers may also be referred to one of Goodwill’s training programs, where they can learn skills needed for a career in Retail, Food Service, Manufacturing, Contact Center, or as a Certified Nurse Aide.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the location will take place at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, December 19th. The store will open to the public at 9:00 am Thursday morning.
