Goodwill Announces New Store and Job Connection in Camden
Donation Center Now Open

A new but familiar name will be coming to Camden in Spring 2010; Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina has announced plans to open a Goodwill store in Camden.  The new Goodwill facility, located at 1671 Springdale Drive in Springdale Plaza, will employ approximately 18 individuals.  In addition to a retail store and donation center, the location will include a service new to the Camden area: a Goodwill Job Connection.

At Goodwill Job Connections, trained employment specialists provide assistance to help job seekers connect with potential employers and find employment, all free of charge.  Access to computers and the internet, fax machines, telephones, and job listings is provided.  Job seekers can work independently if they prefer or receive help from the employment specialist on site.

“Ultimately, Goodwill’s mission is to provide the support people need to become independent, contributing citizens in our community,” said Patrick Michaels, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands SC.  “The Job Connection makes it easy for someone to find employment opportunities and receive guidance to make their efforts most effective.”

The Goodwill store and Job Connection are scheduled to open in March.  The donation center is currently open and accepting donations.  A donation center attendant is on-site from 8am – 6pm Monday through Saturday and 1pm – 6pm on Sunday to assist donors and provide them with a donation receipt for tax purposes.

Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina helps people with disabilities and special needs become independent citizens through education, training, and employment leading to job placement.  In the past year, Goodwill assisted 17,849 people in their quest for independence and created a potential economic impact of over $47 million through the wages of the 2,839 people placed into employment.
