Goodwill Celebrates Grand Reopening of Remodeled Simpsonville Store and Expanded Job Connection

On Friday, November 13th, Goodwill will host the Grand Reopening of its Simpsonville store and Job Connection located at 915 South Street in Simpsonville.  The renovations to the store provide additional space for the sale of gently-used merchandise donated to Goodwill and allowed the expansion of Goodwill’s Simpsonville Job Connection, which has helped job seekers in the Simpsonville community connect with resources and employment opportunities since 2006.

Services available at no charge in Goodwill Job Connections include access to resources like computers and the internet, fax machines, telephones, and job leads and referrals.  A trained employment specialist is on site to assist individuals with their job search.  Additional services available through Goodwill Job Connections include resume development, interviewing skills, and classes such as Basic Computer Literacy and English as Second Language.  Goodwill also serves as a resource for employers by providing pre-screened applicants, space for on-site interviewing, or by organizing and conducting Job Fairs to help fill open positions.

“Ultimately, Goodwill’s mission is to provide the support people need to become independent, contributing citizens in our community,” said Patrick Michaels, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands SC.  “The Job Connection makes it easy for someone to find the resources they need and receive guidance to make their efforts most effective.”

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for 8:30 am on Friday, November 13th.  Goodwill’s President and CEO Patrick Michaels and dignitaries from the city of Simpsonville and the Simpsonville Area Chamber of Commerce will be in attendance.  Goodwill will celebrate the event with a “Buy One, Get One Free” sale on all clothing and shoes Friday and Saturday, only at the Goodwill store at 915 South Street in Simpsonville.

Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina helps people with disabilities and special needs become independent citizens through education, training, and employment leading to job placement.  In the past year, Goodwill assisted 17,849 people in their quest for independence and created a potential economic impact of over $47 million through the wages of the 2,839 people placed into employment.
