Shop at Goodwill for Halloween Costumes That Won’t Break the Bank

Having fun this Halloween doesn’t necessarily require spending a lot of money on scary costumes and fun decorations.  Whether your taste runs to Willy Wonka or garish ghouls, smart consumers young and old can save big and stretch their dollars by shopping at Goodwill for Halloween costumes and décor.

Goodwill stores have vintage or gently used costumes at a fraction of the price of new or rented attire, or trick-or-treaters can choose to build a costume from the shoes up from Goodwill’s selection of gently used merchandise.  With items like leisure suits, patchwork shirts, and princess dresses available, all you need is a little imagination to conjure up a unique costume!

While other retailers anticipate the holiday shopping season between Thanksgiving and Christmas, October is Goodwill’s busiest month nationwide. “Consumers, especially those with families, can still enjoy a fun and frugal Halloween by purchasing decorations and costumes from Goodwill,” says Patrick Michaels, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina.  “And shopping at Goodwill is an investment in your community because your purchase helps Goodwill provide vital job training and placement programs for those in our community who need it most.”

During Goodwill’s “Dollar Days” sale, customers may find an even better deal on the perfect compliment to their Halloween wardrobe or a great outfit for work, school, or play.  Clothing tagged with the “color of the week” is only $1 every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina helps people with disabilities and special needs become independent citizens through education, training, and employment leading to job placement.  In the past year, Goodwill assisted 16,270 people in their quest for independence and created a potential economic impact of over $48.4 million through the wages of the 2,897 people placed into employment.
