Thousands of Children Anticipated at the Subway ® Big Dig!
On Saturday, September 12, 2009, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, Goodwill Foundation will present the 3rd Annual Subway ® Big Dig, a construction theme park where children ages 2 and above can ride and operate heavy construction equipment, such as bull dozers, excavators and 40-ton dump trucks. The park is located at the Village at Pelham Hospital System, 2755 S. Hwy 14 in Greer. Park admission tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased at any Upstate BI-LO or on-line at www.TheBigDigSC.org. Day of admission tickets will be $7. Ride tickets can be purchased at the park for $5 each. All proceeds will benefit Goodwill Foundation in their efforts to assist local families with job training and education leading to full-time employment.
The Subway ® Big Dig will kick off Thursday, September 10th from 6:00 - 9:00 pm with the 3rd Annual Big Dig Dinner, a special evening to thank sponsors and volunteers. The Big Dig Dinner is an outdoor event catered by Mutts’ BBQ of Greer that features live music and a silent auction. It also offers adults the chance to ride and operate the equipment themselves. Goodwill Graduate and current employee Richard Mooney will share his story of success with attendees.
On Friday from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm, Goodwill will open the gates to the Subway ® Big Dig a day early to allow children from Building Dreams the opportunity to ride and operate heavy construction equipment, such as bull dozers, excavators and 40-ton dump trucks. Building Dreams is a not-for-profit organization that provides support to children who have a parent in state or federal prison.
