“A Drive with the Drive”
Goodwill Partners with the Greenville Drive to Help People Find Employment
On Sunday, July 26, 2009, Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina partnered with the Greenville Drive (a Boston Red Sox AA team) baseball team to collect monetary and clothing donations and to raise awareness about Goodwill’s mission. The donations collected at the game will be used to help Goodwill provide job training and education to South Carolina residents and assist them in finding employment. Any fan that donated a large bag/box of items or $10 at the game received a free hotdog and small drink compliments of the Greenville Drive.
P. Jeffery Gilstrap, Goodwill Industries and Goodwill Foundation board member, was honored at the game with Goodwill’s “Outstanding Volunteer Award”. Goodwill’s President and CEO, Patrick Michaels, threw out the first pitch to start the game. The game also featured the debut of Goodwill’s new mascot, Goodwilly.
