Goodwill Celebrates Grand Reopening of Remodeled Anderson
Store and Job Connection
On Friday, June 11th, Goodwill will host the Grand Reopening of its Anderson store and Job Connection located at 3019 North Main Street in Anderson. In addition to visual improvements to the store, the renovations increased the accessibility of the Goodwill Job Connection at this location, which has helped job seekers in the Anderson community connect with resources and employment opportunities since 2007.
Services available at no charge in Goodwill Job Connections include access to resources like computers and the internet, fax machines, telephones, and job leads and referrals. A trained employment specialist is on site to assist individuals with their job search. Additional services available through Goodwill Job Connections include resume development, interviewing skills, and classes such as Basic Computer Literacy and English as Second Language.
Goodwill Job Connections are also a resource for employers. Goodwill can connect employers with pre-screened applicants, provide space for on-site interviewing, or organize and conduct Job Fairs to help fill open positions.
“Ultimately, Goodwill’s mission is to provide the support people need to become independent, contributing citizens in our community,” said Patrick Michaels, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands SC. “Goodwill Job Connections make it easy for someone to find resources and receive guidance to make their efforts most effective.”
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for 8:30 am on Friday, June 11th. Goodwill’s President and CEO Patrick Michaels and dignitaries from the city of Anderson and the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce will be in attendance. The Grand Reopening celebration will include a “Buy One, Get One Free” sale on all clothing Friday, June 11th and Saturday, June 12th.
Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina helps people with disabilities and special needs become independent citizens through education, training, and employment leading to job placement. In the past year, Goodwill assisted 17,849 people in their quest for independence and created a potential economic impact of over $47 million through the wages of the 2,839 people placed into employment.
