Runners to Test Their Skill at the 6th Annual St. Francis Mud Run
Event Extended to Two Days to Accommodate Additional Teams
Over 2,800 runners are expected to test their skills and endurance on a Marine-style mud and guts obstacle course at the Donaldson center on Saturday, May 1, 2010. The St. Francis Mud Run is a four-mile course run by teams of four. It covers wooded terrain, creek beds and fields, and includes thirty-four obstacles such as rope walls, cargo nets, rock walls, low crawls, rope swings, climbing walls and mud pits. The course requires running, jumping, climbing, slogging, sloshing, crawling and sheer determination!
“We are expecting over 700 teams of four to participate in the St. Francis Mud Run this year,” said event coordinator Anthony Liller. “This is an event for people of all athletic levels; we have teams that are racing competitively and teams that just want to have fun with family and friends.”
In addition to the 4-mile course there will be a quarter-mile course designed for children 4 years old and above. The course includes climbing walls, rope crawls, rope swings, and lots of water and mud.
Cost to participate in the Mud Run is $100 for a four-person team. Registration is closed for Saturday, May 1st, but the event has been extended to Sunday, May 2nd and times are still available. Proceeds from the event support the Goodwill Foundation and the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.
