Old Computers Supply Summer Work for Youth!

Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina is inviting everyone to celebrate Earth Day 2009 by donating their old computers, monitors and other electronic equipment to help control the growing problem of E-waste.

Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina is inviting everyone to celebrate Earth Day 2009 by donating their old computers, monitors and other electronic equipment to help control the growing problem of E-waste.

“Earth Day is a perfect time to get rid of those out-of-date computers, monitors, printers, modems and other electronic items that are cluttering up your home or office,” said Patrick Michaels, President and CEO.  “The best part is we will use these computers to provide a new summer youth employment program to train young adults in computer de-manufacturing.”

The Goodwill Computer Recycling Center de-manufactures computers and related equipment for environmentally responsible recycling or resale at Goodwill’s store, ComputerWorks in Simpsonville.

Mr. Michaels also noted that computer donors can be confident about the privacy of data on their hard drives because all computers donated to Goodwill are professionally wiped clean, in accordance with Department of Defense standards.

Computers and related items can be dropped off at any Goodwill store or Attended Donation Center (ADC).  Visit www.goodwillsc.org to find the nearest store or ADC.  To arrange pick up of large quantities of computers, please call 864 351-0155.
