Goodwill Providing Employment Preparation Program in Upstate Counties
Program Funded By Grant from Department of Social Services

Job seekers in several Upstate counties can now take advantage of Goodwill’s “Employment Preparation Program” to ready them for opportunities in the workplace.   The program, funded by a grant from the South Carolina Department of Social Services, will equip participants with knowledge and skills needed to seek employment, enter the workforce, and successfully maintain employment.

The workshop, provided at no charge to participants, includes training on Problem Solving, Communication, Interpersonal and Teamwork Skills, Personal Qualities and Work Ethic, and Job Readiness.   These modules include instruction in resolving conflicts, time management, financial management, resume development, preparing for a successful interview, and thriving in the workplace, as well as a variety of other life and employability skills.   Participants can take advantage of Goodwill’s Job Placement services to help them secure employment at the conclusion of the workshop.

The Pickens County location will also serve as a Goodwill Job Connection, where trained employment specialists provide free on-site assistance to help job seekers connect with potential employers and find permanent employment.   Individuals interested in these services are not required to participate in the Employment Preparation Program workshop.

Goodwill’s Employment Preparation Program is available to participants in Greenville, Oconee, Pickens, and Spartanburg counties.

Goodwill Industries helps people with disabilities and disadvantages become fully independent citizens through education, training, and employment leading to job placement.   In the past year, Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina has provided services to over 11,000 people.   The direct results of these services created an economic impact of over $43 million in the community.    Goodwill currently has 28 store locations and 36 donation centers in the Upstate and Midlands of South Carolina.  For more information on Goodwill and its programs, please visit www.goodwillsc.org.
