Goodwill Partners with David Michael Salon & Day Spa in Simpsonville
to Hold Community Computer Drive
Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina has partnered with David Michael Salon & Day Spa to hold a community computer drive on Saturday, January 23 from 10am-2pm.The drive will be held at the spa at 116 Allawood Court in Simpsonville, SC.
The owner of David Michael Salon & Day Spa, David Dytman, became interested in partnering with Goodwill to host a computer drive after he took a tour of the Haywood warehouse with a local business networking group.
“I was introduced to the Goodwill Computer Demanufacturing program during a tour of their facility,” said Dytman. “I was impressed by the project and knew right away that I needed to be involved. Goodwill is taking care of our environment by keeping these computers and their hazardous materials out of landfills, and the program also provides funding for Goodwill’s job training and placement programs for people who are looking for work.”
David Michael Salon & Day Spa will provide spa services to donors that bring a laptop or a full computer system (monitor, hard drive and keyboard) to the drive. Attendees will be also be able to register to win a $150 Spa Gift Card, provided by the spa.
The Goodwill Computer Recycling Center, which was launched in 2006, gives donors a safe, environmentally responsible option for disposal of their old computers and related equipment. Some computers are refurbished and offered for sale in Goodwill store locations; others are recycled through the Reconnect program, a partnership between Goodwill and Dell. The goal of the Reconnect program is to keep used computers and computer equipment from landfills and to educate residents on the importance of proper computer recycling. All proceeds of value recovered from the recycled computer equipment goes to Goodwill to support job training and employment services programs. For more information on the Reconnect program, visit www.reconnectpartnership.com or www.dell.com/recycling.
Computers and related items can be dropped off throughout the year at any Goodwill store or Attended Donation Center (ADC). Visit www.goodwillsc.org to find the nearest store or ADC.
