CERTIFIED NURSE AIDE TRAINING PROGRAM - GREENVILLE AREA
The Goodwill Certified Nurse Aide course provides classroom and supervised clinical training in the basic fundamentals of safe and knowledgeable care giving, and also offers Work Readiness curriculum. The Certified Nurse Aide program is focused on preparing students for the South Carolina Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation Testing Program as well as providing job skills and developing attitudes and behaviors necessary for competent caregivers. After successful completion of the state examination, the graduate is a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) as defined by state and federal laws. A Certified Nurse Aide may obtain employment in hospitals, long-term care facilities (nursing homes), care homes, private homes, adult day care, clinics, and hospice.
Program Outline: Day Program
Nursing Aide Training: 40 hours Lab/Lecture, 40 hours Clinical
Work Readiness Curriculum: 20 hours
Student must pay a non-refundable administration fee of $25.00 when registering.

- CPR textbook (loaner)

- Blood pressure cuff and Stethoscope
- Background check
- Drug and TB screenings
- State Exam booklet
- State Exam Review Class
- One State Board Certification Examination
- Case Management
The following are requirements in order to be considered for participation in the program. Eight clients/students will be selected per class.
- Clean Criminal Background
- Participant must be at least eighteen years old
- Lift up to 70 pounds
- Stand for long durations
- Minimal visual and hearing limitations
- Negative Drug Screen and TB test (Tuberculosis)
- Demonstrate appropriate math and reading level(s) – Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE) assessment
- Essay of Intent
- High School Diploma or GED
Upon acceptance into the program, participants must attend orientation and successfully complete work readiness curriculum before beginning skills training.
Goodwill Industries reserves the right to make the final selection on all clients/students due to the limited space in the training program.

Am I guaranteed a job upon completion? Once training has been completed, you will take the State Exam to become a Certified Nurse Aide. This certification is required for employment. Goodwill will provide you with assistance in your job search, including access to its Job Connection resources and personalized guidance from a Case Manager, but employment is not guaranteed.
Where is the training? Work Readiness curriculum takes place at the Goodwill Job Connection in Simpsonville and CNA curriculum takes place at Ignite Healthcare Institute on Miller Road in Greenville.
What do we learn in Work Readiness training? Resume development, professionalism in the workplace, mock interviews, work ethics, basic computer skills, communications, and financial management.
