BUSINESS SUPPORT SERVICES GRADUATE OF THE YEAR
Garrick Tada
Being “good” is not good enough for Garrick Tada. He is satisfied with nothing less than being “great”.
That was not always true of Garrick. When he began his training program with Goodwill, Garrick shied away from the spotlight and did the work that was required of him; nothing more, nothing less. He preferred to work alone and was not interested in socializing.
But with a combination of clear, realistic rules and nurturing from his supervisors at Business Support Services, Garrick began to thrive. His production increased and he welcomed the challenge of mastering new jobs. He worked hard to increase the speed and quality of his work and delighted in recognition for his accomplishments.
No longer shy and wary of attention, Garrick began to appreciate the camaraderie of the group in Business Support Services and elected himself their cheerleader. He applauded the accomplishments of his colleagues, and enjoyed their recognition in return. At the BSS Christmas dinner, Garrick led the group in singing “The Twelve Days of Christmas”, complete with dance steps. Garrick enjoyed coming to work everyday, something his mother commented that she had never seen from him before.
In January 2007, Garrick began work at the Walgreens Distribution Center in Anderson, where he prides himself on his speed and accuracy. His competitive nature has driven him to excel, and he has cross-trained in several positions at the distribution center. No matter what the job may be, employers can rest assured that Garrick will do it well and strive for greatness. « Back |
